Back in a time when I used film and chemicals to produce photos instead of pixels and touchpads, I had an assignment to shoot a whole roll of film taking photos of nothing but patterns and texture.
As I walk the beach and wander the island with the one I met in the dark, and herd our four to keep them all wandering in the same general direction, I shoot texture and pattern and search for the art hidden in the everyday.
I’ve been enjoying my view through my lens as I hike through my week.

as I write this I’m smiling – and thinking – yes, THAT is some pattern and texture – I get it – it’s beautiful – and I can see you stopping along a hike and thinking “that’s a shot”. Me, I’m still point-and-shoot guy – but I’m learning to think about what I shoot before I shoot. And guess what – now that I’m done writing this – I’m still smiling. Thanks Craig! I still use a glorified point and shoot. Don’t have the $ for a DSLR right now. Don’t use Photoshop either… I do need to invest in that one though.
