How often do we take risks and not consider the risk until we are already committed?
I wanted a shot of the birds.
Zooming in from way back there did not quite get what I was looking for.
I slowly took a few steps.
Surely it is wide enough, at least 3 to 4 feet.
I edged out a little closer, taking slow steps,
not wanting to scare the birds off,
not wanting to trip either.
Once I got a shot I thought I would like,
I realized the risk of where I was.
All of a sudden, the thought of tripping, or loosing my balance,
or having my foot slip on the loose pebbles,
stopped me in my tracks.
I look back now, and I see I took a risk.
Just to let you know that I am not as brave as it may look…
I did not walk back…
I crawled back.
On hands and knees,
so that I would be more stable.
Because deep down inside…
I. was. petrified.

Why do I forget that I can choose courage?
God has equipped me to be courageous, why do I forget that?
Courage takes effort on our part.
It is not automatic, it is not our default.
If it were, then why does God urge in His Word to
“BE OF GOOD COURAGE”?
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
~Psalm 31:24
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
~Joshua 1:9
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
~Deut. 31:6
Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work…
~1 Chronicles 28:20
Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
~Ezra 10:4

Is there anything that God is calling you to?
That just may take a bit of courage?
