Understanding The Will Of The LORD

Great message from my husband the other day…

Understanding What the Will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:17 – Be not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

A) If you are seeking God’s will, you can understand that He will direct your way. Proverbs 16:9 – A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

1) When we seek God’s general will (as clearly taught in Scripture) we can be sure that He will direct us into His specific will. Proverbs 23:37 – The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

2) His way may not be what you had in mind, but He will direct your steps, even when we do not realize it sometimes. Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

B) We must understand that seeking God’s will does not include “fainting” (quitting).
Galatians 6:9 – And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Hebrews 12:3 – For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

1)Wanting to quit and actually quitting are two different things.

2)We must win our mental battles with daily renewal of our minds.

Romans 12:2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.C) We must understand that God will bring the “increase” even if we do not see it ourselves.
1 Corinthians 3:7 – So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.Challenge: God will not bring any “increase” through us if we are not first seeking his general will or if we “faint” while seeking His specific will for our lives.Edification: Seek, don’t faint, trust Him for the increase.

So glad I married him.

So glad he loves the LORD.
So glad we are hiking together.
